Fraunhofer IML Certifies Latest Version of Solvo.WMS

28 December 2016

This year saw yet another successful validation of Solvo.WMS by experts at the Fraunhofer IML in Dortmund. Additionally, SOLVO representatives took part in the sixteenth annual conference for the world’s leading WMS system vendors, which was held October 27th, 2016 in Dortmund.

With over 100 representatives from leading vendors, SOLVO was the only Russian-based WMS developer at the event.

This year, validation focused on the various system features and modules, which were included in Solvo.WMS 5.0. These were updated features from previous versions as well as new features developed in 2016.

In particular, the validation process covered such system functions as:

  • Job issuing mechanism, with which the system can generate tasks for operators automatically while accounting for various user-defined parameters, ABC-analysis, putaway optimization strategies, and more.

  • A configurable accounting feature with the ability to export reports in various formats and visualize system reports using graphs and diagrams.

  • Warehouse topology editor: interactive tool for creating and graphically visualizing warehouse zoning information, occupancy, inventory, current operator location, tasks, order statuses, etc.

  • Opportunities provided by the real-time Key Performance Indicator (KPI) module along with a WEB-interface, Android app, index registry, and more.

  • Picking optimization strategies: pick list creation rules, group picking methods (multi-order picking, put-to-store during wave picking, etc.) as well as any of their combinations.

  • Support of various cross-docking strategies. Automatic assignment of docks for truck during loading/unloading (interaction with Solvo.Yard module).

  • Opportunities provided by the Solvo.Yard module, which were not validated last year: accountability, truck routing methods, integration with electronic bulletin boards, SMS-notification, self-service kiosks for drivers, and others.

  • Compatibility rules for various transport types when working in a common area. Opportunities provided by the Solvo.Billing module or service fee calculation for storage depending on rate, client, contract conditions, and other parameters.

The Dortmund conference also included special workshops and a series of “World Cafe” round-tables, where participants were divided into mini-groups to share their ideas and experiences on boosting warehouse productivity. These sessions also focused on WMS system testing (types of tests used by vendors), Gamification (application of gaming simulators for personnel training, as well as various motivation schemes), WMS configuration, a 3D warehouse simulation center, and much more.
